Q Consulting and Education Services
At Q Consulting and Education, we offer educational programming and consulting services designed to fit your needs.  We can also assist you in assessing what your needs may be. In our increasingly diverse society, it is important to build affirming and inclusive organizational climates.  Whether your goals include creating safe spaces within your non-profit or for-profit organization, or creating and assessing LGBTQ-affirming programming within academic institutions, we can help.  Additionally, we provide communication consulting services.  Workshop and consulting services may be arranged to accommodate traditional business hours, evenings, and weekends.



Safe Space Affirming Ally Training
Safe Space Affirming Ally sessions are most appropriate for organizations interested in providing LGBTQ-affirming and inclusive diversity training for organizational members.  Trainings and workshops are customized and appropriate for all organizational members including, but not limited to: administrators, board members, managers, educators, law enforcement, social services professionals, professional staff, faculty, hourly employees, or students.  Participants will increase their knowledge and understanding of the topics listed below, and share ideas for improving LGBTQ-affirming and inclusive practices in their organizations.

Safe Space: One 4-hour session
​This half-day workshop guides participants through information regarding the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning) community. Topics include: terminology, LGBTQ history, recent events, symbols, organizational climate, local ordinances, identity development, violence and oppression, and developing affirming ally skills. Facilitators encourage participant engagement through presentation, individual activities, small group activities, and group discussion. Workshops require a minimum of five participants, and are capped at 20 participants.

Safe Space Basics: One 2-hour session
​This abbreviated workshop guides participants through basic information regarding the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning) community. Topics include: terminology, LGBTQ history, recent events, symbols, organizational climate, local ordinances, and developing affirming ally skills. Facilitators encourage participant engagement through presentation, brief small group activities, and group discussion. Workshops require a minimum of five participants, and are capped at 20 participants.

Safe Space Custom Training 
​Q Consulting and Education facilitators are glad to work with organizations to develop a workshop or training program that meets their unique organizational needs. Customized presentations are available on the topics listed above, or may be designed to address topics that meet specific organizational needs and objectives. Custom training can be designed to serve any number of participants. Please contact us to arrange a consultation. 



Curriculum Consulting
We offer consulting services to colleges and universities working to develop or assess their own LGBTQ-affirming programming.  Each workshop is most appropriate for a core group of 5-15 faculty and staff members who will comprise the initial team that will lead the LGBTQ ally outreach efforts on your campus. 

One Day Safe Space Starter Workshop
Part one of this 8 hour workshop includes Q Consulting and Education Safe Space training for all attendees and a condensed train-the-trainer session.   During the train-the-trainer session, participants explore the following topics: facilitator selection, curriculum development, and facilitation techniques.  During part two of the workshop, attendees will develop a plan and timeline for curriculum development, communication strategy, and implementation of ally training on campus.  This package includes follow-up summary and recommendations by Q Consulting and Education consultants, based upon conversations and observations during the workshop. This workshop is recommended for a team of 5-10 participants who will lead organizational LGBTQ programming initiatives.

Two Day Safe Space Starter Workshop
​Part one/day one of this expanded option includes an 8 hour workshop consisting of Q Consulting and Education Safe Space training for all attendees during the morning session, with an expanded train-the-trainer session in the afternoon.  During the train-the-trainer session, participants will explore the following topics: facilitator selection, curriculum development, curriculum resources, facilitation techniques, and assessment.   Part two/day two is a six hour workshop, during which attendees will facilitate "mock" mini-sessions to practice and develop facilitation skills.  Additionally, attendees will develop a plan and timeline for curriculum development, communication strategy, and implementation of ally training on your campus.  This package includes a meeting with appropriate administrative staff, and follow-up summary and recommendations from Q Consulting and Education consultants, based upon conversations and observations with all organizational members. This workshop is recommended for a team of 5-10 participants who will lead organizational LGBTQ programming initiatives.



Communication Consulting
Communication consulting services are offered to organizations interested in assessing and improving internal or external communication processes and procedures.  Services include:

* Identifying key audiences, what they currently know about your business, service, product or organization, what they need and want to know and how they prefer to be reached 

* Evaluation of strengths and weakness in current internal and external communication, including web presence and social media

* Review of untapped opportunities for future communications 

* Evaluation of language used in print and online communications to ensure inclusive wording

* Creating a future communication plan that includes new certifications

* Ensuring consistent communication throughout the organization

*Additional services may be offered to meet organizational needs following the initial consultation

Please contact Kim at (260) 797-1230 or via email at info@qcanded.org to discuss scheduling and fees. Nonprofit organizations and affiliated groups typically qualify for sliding scale or scholarship programs. Fees may vary by distance, location, number of participants, and type of service.
